Does this mean witchcraft is always safe though? No, unless you become the target of a hex or curse, casting spells or performing rituals will not hurt you. If anything goes wrong, the spell or ritual will just simply not work.

No, witchcraft as a standalone practice is not a religion. While there are many religions that include witchcraft practices, witchcraft in and of itself does not come with any dogmatic rules, stories of creation, or rigid structures of belief that you’d find within religion.

Witchcraft, at it’s core, is a ritualistic application of the natural world through symbols, herbs, crystals, planets, etc. Whether or not that includes any spirits, gods, or none at all, is completely up to you!
